Smart Home
The walk light, right in your home.
The Home Assistant integration brings the walk light, paw index, rain in the next minutes and official weather alerts into your smart home as sensors. No account needed, just the app and a code.
Set up in three steps
- In HACS, open Custom repositories, add this address as an
Integration and install “PfotenWetter / PawWeather”. Then restart
Home Assistant.
https://github.com/MDDX-Digital-Solutions/pfotenwetter-homeassistant - In the app: Settings → Home Assistant → Create code.
- In Home Assistant: Settings → Devices & services → Add integration → PfotenWetter / PawWeather, enter the code.
The code is valid for ten minutes and can be used once. Home Assistant 2026.10 or newer.
No app yet? The PawWeather app on your phone creates the code.
What arrives in Home Assistant
| Sensor | Without subscription | With extended features |
|---|---|---|
| Walk light (green, yellow, red), hours as attribute | for an average dog | for your dogs from the app |
| Paw index (surface temperature) | ✓ | ✓ |
| Temperature, feels like, today's low and high | ✓ | ✓ |
| Rain now, rain starts or ends in, precipitation rate | ✓ | ✓ |
| Official alerts, highest alert level | ✓ | ✓ |
The integration uses your “Home” zone; another zone can be chosen in its options. Radar every 5 minutes, forecast every 30, alerts every 10. Locations in the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, are served by api.pawweather.app.
Automation ideas
- Walk light red → hallway light turns yellow.
- Rain in ten minutes → announcement on the speaker.
- Paw index reports hot pavement → a note to your phone before you reach the door.
- Official alert of orange or higher → notify everyone at home.
